New Battery? Which One?

Recommended Posts

I'm trying to decide what to do. Heres the deal. I upgraded my amp to one with double the power, and now its seriously tugging on my volts, I can't even turn it up pass 20% without of dimming of all lights on and in the car. Any higher than that, the amp cuts out due to the volts bottoming out below 11v.

So I wanna ask you guys your thoughts? I'm thinking of just getting a better battery like an optima yellow top.

Should I get a new battery?

Should I get a second battery?

Should I get an optima?

New alternator?

2nd alternator?

Capacitor?

Thanks you guys, and as always, I value your options and comments.

Turn your gain down.

An added battery will help, as will a larger alt, but I don't think it's "needed" for this "small" of a system.

Don't get a cap.

I can't remember if you've done the big 3 yet or not. Be sure to have that done.

Check your sub wiring, that's a ton of drop for that small of an amp, though I still think it's from having your gain set to high and clipping the signal.
