  1. Nice, I want one. That was in the plans to get is a RTA set up. How good is your sound card in your computer? I've heard you need a pretty good sound card to run it like that.

I am not much of a gamer any more but if this takes off it could draw me in. http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/3d-vis...tereo,2121.html Short Nvidia is working on 3D for games. Could be pretty sweet if it worked its way to home movies also.

Well to be semi fair not really tough the machine has 1Gb of memory with a crap ton of apps running in the tray/backround. Task manager says 11mb free. If it were mine I would eliminate all the tray programs to just anti virus and sound control.

Just got done running The Wall both divx and DVD on the computer and still nothing, while it was playing I tried to stress the display by closing and opening the lid and flexing the mobo. I'm pretty convinced there is nothing wrong with it.

Will that stress the display though? I am trying to stress the questionable components display/video. The laptop is hot to the touch already. Got an hour of divx movie played on it now moving to a DVD.

Yes but she said she tried it again before she gave it to me and it said "it worked for a little bit then went out again". I am trying to stress the laptop as much as I can by playing a movie on it but it is still working.

I hate computers. Why do I tell people I will work on their computers when I dont want to? Recently a friend gave me her laptop to get data off of it (pictures, Documents, etc) I did that no problem. It only took me about an hour or so. Now I have to figure out how to give her ~15 Gigs of her data to her. Looks like a couple dual layer DVDs. Now to the point that is stumping me, she took it to best buy and they told her the back light on the LCD went out and to replace it, it was going to run her ~$500. I have had the laptop running for ~30 minutes now and it is working perfectly for me. the screen looks fine no dimming and is easily readable, so I have no idea what she or best buy was doing wrong.

Trying to decide on a 6.5" comp set

Even go to BB but remember that in car will sound different and in store the head unit wont be set correctly. The difference in sound between the tweeters is hard to explain most will use terms as the metal domes being more detailed but that isn't necessarily true. Generally silk tweeters tend to have a more warm sound to them while metal being bright now this isnt always the case and there can be exceptions.

Trying to decide on a 6.5" comp set

If your going to spend the time making an adapter make one for 6.5 but you also may have to make sure they fit depth wise. You will get better low frequency response out of 6.5's but also remember that a lot of your midbass response is going to depend on installation ie deadening and sealing the door. That being said see if you can go to a couple shops and listen to some sets on a sound board, it wont sound the same as in car but you can get an idea of what kind of tweeter you might like. From my experience of listening to a couple sets on sound boards , mind you I have different music tastes, but I liked the Boston pro 60's a little out of your price range but they had a real strong sound to them the tweeter was real crisp and clear on the and had enough midbass. I also listened to some Polk db's at CC I also liked these some over the kickers they had there because of a more earthier sound they weren't harsh or over bearing but really easy on the ears. The point of those two examples were to get you to possible go out and listen to some speakers. I believe the polks had silk tweeters and the kickers had aluminum tweeters where the Bostons were titanium all which are going to effect the sound as much as the midbass/range. Hope that helps a little.

    My New Subwoofers

Because this site was the most helpful you guys get first views of them. What could they be? I love the packaging from the outside, all the Fragile tape and warnings. No hints yet. Good packaging though. Something from Incriminator Audio? Some Flatlynes They are a lot heavier then they look. Great build quality too. Stitched leads.

    My New Subwoofers

To just get the subs in I would like to sell the current stuff in there as I am running out of room to keep sub boxes and other stuff. But just to install the subs I am going to do it right so I dont have to go back and do it so I need a sheet of 1/4 or 1/2 inch (haven't decided yet) ply wood to create a floor to bolt the box down to, a relay, some terminal cups for the box, hurricane nuts and some bolts to screw in the subs, and carpet for the box. Not to much I already have the box built but if I can sell my current stuff and acquire some more money I could get the subs in with that little bit. To complete the stereo I need the previous stated stuff and deadening, tweeters, speaker wire, RCAs(upgrading), some replacement A piller trim to mount the tweeter to, fuses and other miscellaneous items. I hope to get the subs in by end of January/February. Review would be after that to allow break in time for the subs.

    My New Subwoofers

I agree they need a in-depth review, I don't know if I am the one to give it though but I will try. My review might not be for a while though. I will take suggestions on what I should be looking for to review it though. Here is a review of the ordering process and physical portions of the driver. I posted in a topic at SSA asking if they were available in D4 coils because they only listed D2 the places I looked. Nick told me they could do D4 and to email him if I was interested. So following my thread here and other places I decided to go with the Flatlynes because I like to be different and not to many people have them. I emailed Nick(Incriminator) on the 22nd of December and got a reply within a half an hour. I sent payment 10 minutes after I got a reply and an hour after that he emailed me and told me they were added to the list. After all the holidays he emailed me on the 5 of January and told me they were going out that day and I received them on the 7th of January. Upon receiving them I was impressed by the outside of the package, fragile tape and stickers letting the handlers know to be careful with the packages. I like the foam cushion protecting the top of the woofer and the woofer was in a plastic bag as well. The motor was sitting in a half box lined with foam to prevent it sliding around. Each woofer also came with a little care package consisting of a sticker, pamphlet showcasing their product line up and mission statement, a user manual for the woofer consisting of wiring diagrams, enclosure recommendations, and warranty info, and a disclaimer sheet explaining hearing loss and the air driven cooling used. Build quality. This driver is heavier then it looks shipping weight is 30lbs and I believe that is all driver. I couldn't imagine the top assembly being more then 5lbs leaving about 25lbs for the motor. The surround on the sub feels to be really heavy duty just from the feel of it and I punched through some of the mounting holes which was a little resistive for a tiny screwdriver. The cone appears to be very rigid having a smooth feel to the back and a textured fiberglass feel on the front. The dust cap on the driver is very tasteful not flashy(which I like, not a flashy person at all). The dust cap is also very shallow not a big convex shape also referred as boob cone. The drivers suspension is stiff only moving about a 1/4 inch when pressing firmly. The driver has stitched leads which is a nice touch and the coils all measured in spec of 2.8 per coil. The ADC is an interesting feature on their lines which raises the basket about 1/4 inch from the motor assembly. And last the motor assembly, it is about 8 & 1/4 inch in diameter with a top plate of 1 & 1/4 inch tall, about 1 inch tall magnet, and a bottom plate that is about 3/4 of an inch. Almost forgot about the beautiful "black chrome" finish on the motor.

    My New Subwoofers

As with a lot of things pictures do not do them justice. I would have ordered them from the shop but I needed D4 coils and the option wasn't at the shop so nick told me to email him for them. I think they just finish the D4 option for the Flatlynes that's why it is not in the shop. I want to get these installed now but I want to do a couple things first like sell the old junk I have in now, and get some supplies to do it right. And it is cold as a witches titty outside so that hinders somethings.

Went to the eye doctor. Eyes only change 1/4 of a point or what ever the rate them by. Not enough to change prescription.
