    The "new" Guy

I will probably end up with one soon enough but for now Im gunna try these MMATs Hey we can piss you off here Tyler lol Guys, Its really nice to have you here ... but PLEASE lets try and keep this a nice clean forum ... This is a very relaxed forum where we can discuss Car Audio (and other topics) facts, theories, and principals ... People that are here just to "goof off" will be asked to go elsewhere ... Thank you guys, and again ... Welcome to CA-F and one more note please ... Having fun or not ... Absolutely NO BASHING HERE ... Thank you ... Completely understood sir just giving Tyler a little hell... Seems like a fun site though, how long has it been up? Mark and I brought it on line back in late 2007 actually, we saw there was a void of quality general audio boards out there. SSA seems to be a great place for people to search out info and use it as a resource, but many seem to just be lurkers because they are scared to join the conversations. So a more free-flowing, laid back site for fun made sense. We initially tried the SMF board software, which I liked a lot but it was quite limited and did not have all the add-ons, flexibility or support that Invision does. So we brought CA-F up to speed with the best software in early 2008. It actually started off kind of hot, shortly after we absorbed CustomizeYourVehicle.com into CA-F. That site was owned by Patrick S, whom I had helped extensively, to grow that site, but he kept cheaping out on hosting and software. So once it finally was about to go kaput, I offered to merge it into CA-F, so he would not have to worry about hosting or software fee's, and the staff could come along too. Well that only lasted for a little while because Patrick went off and started CACO. Once again, I helped him with the start of that site, but the moment the new kiddies that kissed ass to be on the moderation staff told Patrick that CACO could copy the SSA format and bring on companies like RD, my response was that RD was a massive mistake and that I was gone if they brought on RD. Well, I think we all know what happened. They brought on RD, I left that site, RD screwed countless people on product and money, Patrick had numerous bogus contests and give-away's, while using vendor/donation money to hook up his car or line his pockets instead of keeping CACO up to par. CACO, became the haven for the young, ignorant or blind-fanboys so loads of new members with little experience, lots of time and no money, came rolling in. With teenager, trigger happy, power tripping moderators and bogus give-away's/contest at the same time of controversial Anthony buying ROE, CACO grew very rapidly and became overrun with the truly inexperienced that pushed and hyped very poor methods, brands and audio myths. At the same time of a major hosting issue we had, this (CA-F) newer, growing and well built site was quickly over looked and traffic suffered due to not directly catering to that group. A couple of years later, Mark started Classfiedzz.net. It was to be the sensible and competently run alternative to CACO, CSF and CAJ (who is now long gone). CLZZ (Classifiedzz.net) also started off pretty hot, but it needed more push behind it to grow it. And with the kiddies already latched onto CACO and SMD, the rapid growth potential was not there. So with so much effort needed to run SSA, CLZZ started to suffer and gradually became very slow. About a year ago, we merged CLZZ into here (CA-F), so the format, posts and purpose of CLZZ remain, but there is less space to cover and run. Moral of the story is CA-F has actually been around over 4 years, and has survived the explosion of sub-par forums a few years ago, it out lasted a few others that had much more traffic initially, it has helped support now defunct websites and has kept other sites data still available, all the while having a quality, smaller and close-nit group of people steadily visit the website. I would love to have more traffic here, if they are here to actually be part of the site. This site actually does very well in search engine listings. Hard to imagine its been that long.

    Aq3500 Vs. Bc3500

Seems to me like it would be a lateral move without a HO alternator.

Need To Know Which Bass Knob To Use?

http://www.amazon.com/PAC-Remote-Amplifier-Level-Controller/dp/B0002J226O This is the one I use, I like them more then the ones that go into the amplifier because if you ever change amps you can use this one with any other amplifier.

    CA-F.com Never Ending Story

All I get are quick naps anymore, but they don't reset or recharge me. I maybe get 4 naps a month. Those are on the weekends when I have Arthur and we are going all out and need a mid-day break. Since I got put on 3rd shift I get 2 naps a day, about an hour or two when I get home from work and about two to three hours right before I go to work but that is all the sleep I get. Yuck, are you getting the 3rd shift money offset? yeah, there is a shift premium. Not sure if its worth it, it is what it is though.

Anatomy of the Power Amplifier, By Robert Zeff

This has been discussed before and you said you knew and was only testing so why the change? http://www.caraudio-...dpost__p__14878 If you can explain what C5 does in this amplifier circuit then you will know and understand why the amplifier outputs AC.

Anatomy of the Power Amplifier, By Robert Zeff

Your only looking at one stage of the amplifier circuit. The bias is removed before the final outputs. Take your DMM and set it to DC volts and measure the outputs, you should only get a couple millivolts as its hard to completely remove the bias. If you set it to AC volts you will see the AC voltage the amplifier is outputting.

    Amp Hunting (2 channel)

Yes you would need a channel for each device, 1 channel for left side component set 1 channel for right side component set and 1 channel for the subwoofer. I suggested a 4 channel because you can run the components off the front channels and bridge the rears to the subwoofer creating a 3 channel amp so to say. before we can really recommend some amps we should know how much space you working with dimension wise. The IA 6.4 would fit almost anywhere but like Aaron said its a bit out of budget, The Boston GTA-704 ( http://www.soundsolu...-amplifier.html )could work well but might be a bit to big to fit under the seat without knowing the dimensions. For an 8" sub you could look into the sundown E8v2 or Incriminator Audio I series, Ive also heard good things about the new Alpine type Rs.
