I am asking, as for my case, the drivers are on the a-pillars up and away from the dash so I can't imagine too much reflections with them. I saw several vehicles with pods on the pillars in Texas and most, if not all, used a mat of some sort. All of them said the same thing about reflections and the mat helped in their opinion. I know in the civic I'm building, we only have tweeters in the factory location on the pillar, but placing a simple towel on the dash made a huge difference in the image focus. Made the image much tighter IMHO. Try a towel and see if you notice a difference. If so, then you would know for sure. Let us know what you find out! Thanks Richard, I will give it a try. If it is a noticeable difference, I will see if one is made for my car. Sorry to take this topic off track. Anytime. Glad to share. I've learned a lot by listening to other vehicles at the shows and seeing what others do to tackle the problems inherent in car audio with the listening space. Every little bit helps! Can't wait to see what you find out!
  2. Linear Power In The Lambo!

Did'nt think us cornbread lovin country boys would fit in a fancy; "overseas" sports car No-how. I knew being a short dude would come in handy some day! And oh yeah, nice car!!!

Looks great! Can't wait to hear it with the new amps, I know you're happy to have them!
  5. Thanks Josh, we're trying. I haven't gotten much "seat time" with the car since the last show, but I must have done something they liked. He really liked the depth of the stage and told us so. Now once we get some other anomalies worked out we should be on the way to catching up with the rest of you. Gonna do everything I can to make The Vinney show to see how we've done with the improvements to the tune. Can't wait to see everyone there!
  6. On the way back from the show in Denison, TX yesterday. Ian took "first", but was the only one in his class. He did however, raise his score from an average of 64.25 at the last show, to a 72.25 at this one, which was higher than several cars in classes above him. I didn't hear any figures on total number of cars, but I saw at least 7-8 SQ cars there. All in all I can't complain. It's still in need of several hours of "quality seat time" but with the limited number of hours in this build I'll take what we've done and be happy.
  7. Hey! That's my tag for the for the MG! (But you can use it if you want....ha ha!)
  8. Entry level pioneer head unit, Crystal tweeters, Dayton 6.5's, Sundown 12, Linear Power 2.2HV on front passive, Linear Power 5002 on sub. He's mostly interested in SPL, but I talked him into running Intro SQ. He did a 138.4 with no idea of his note, and sub is not sealed from the trunk. We basically made it play, and came to the show. Spent about 15 minutes tuning when we got here, not much I could do with a 7 band eq and no T/A. It's not bad for what it is. We were both surprised as there were some really good sounding cars here. It was a really nice show and we plan on making more in Todd's series.
  9. End of the day, had 14 SQ cars, 15 SPL total. Ian got first out of three cars in Intro SQ+, not bad for his first show. We have a lot of work to do, but its a start!
  10. At Todd Crowder's show in Benton, AR. So far there are 11 SQ cars and 3 SPL cars and more coming by the minute. Don't have the truck, but Ian has his Civic, his first competition. Can't wait to see how it does.
  11. Randle, I have gone back and forth over cutting the back wall for a few years now. If I ever want to sell the truck after cutting, I lose all resale value unless I can sell it to another stereo guy, and that's what stops me. One day I'll get a different truck and make sure it's at the very least an extra cab for the room behind the seat. Then maybe I'll do a pair of 2250's on a subwoofer system.....and see how long I can stay in my own vehicle!
  12. Thank you Taylor, I appreciate the kind words. At the present time, the truck is being redone and the build is going to take me quite some time as I am changing everything to be able to accomodate the new Linear Power amplifiers. Speakers will stay the same, but I may change up the subwoofer enclosure a little if I can get what I want to fit in the same or less space. Plans call for a pair of 2250's, one driving the 6.5 components passively, and the other driving the subwoofer system. I'll be sure to post pics when finished, but this build is going to be a slow one since I don't even have the new amps yet! If you want to chat about some of the challenges I had to overcome during the build so you don't repeat my mistakes, I would be more than happy to help! Richard

Let me know if you need an extra pair of hands during the build. I like sharing ideas with people, it helps us all learn more!
  14. Aint That Just A Kick In The Nutz

Hate to hear that about the surrounds, hopefully they can get it repaired for you and have it hold up. Good luck!
